I've had a hard couple of months.
First of all, my mum got cancer. It has been a real shock - especially when we were told she had only 6 months to live. There was even talk of getting her will fixed. But she is good now, the chemo seems to be working and the doctors say she has good prospects. Hopefully things will turn out all right!
Secondly, I went to the beach with a few friends. I expected to get sunburnt, but the type of sunburn I got was unexpected. I couldn't walk for days, couldn't walk properly for more than a week and I managed to confuse many medical experts as to why it happened (I still have the sunburn even though it happened almost a month ago now!). Bizzare.
Thirdly, but on a happier note, I got an offer from the Australian National University! I was so happy when I got the news - I could not stop shaking! Me and my good friend ~desolatedeamon were planning to go up Canberra together, I am so excited. But I will miss all my tassie friends - in particular =AtlanteanTiger - I will not be there for your b'day!
I hope you are having a great summer! Sal.

Canberra's only four hours from me!
WE MUST SEE EACH OTHER AT SOME POINT!
Sorry to hear about your mother. We only found out in July my grandmother has the exact same thing! Chemo worked a charm though!
As for getting sunburnt, if it stays with you that long you may get a tan like I did when I had one painful sunburn for a month or two.
Do you have those people who point out you're sunburnt? I hate that. "LIKE I DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW THAT!"

I'm very sorry to hear that about your mum, and I'm so unbelievably glad that she's back on the right track...
I'm worried about my own mum in that respect -- she has a pre-cancerous skin disease which means that if she get sunburnt at all shes x-times more likely to get cancer.
How unusual! It sounds painful as well...

That is so weird! A similar thing happened to my friend -- she got sunburnt and her whole face swelled up and it didn't go down for like a week. It was really weird, too, it had never happened to her before and the doctors couldn't work out why. *Shrug*
