Spoiler warning: Plot details follow for the The Chaser’s Age of Terror Variety Hour .

The Chaser’s Age of Terror Variety Hour was great. I went with my best friend =AtlanteanTiger and her mum, as a part of an early b’day celebration for me. There were Democrat jokes, inbred Tasmanians jokes and Heath-Ledger-being-dead jokes, but below I have written what I can remember:

• It started with a slideshow with the joke that the Chaser will be played by other people, i.e. Chris Taylor has been replaced with an ultra fat sumo.



• The first song was about people who are late and it contained the line “Bum or testes in your face” and also joked about no one knowing who Dom is. They also invited a random member from the audience to join the Chasers on stage, and made him do a solo. Poor guy looked so bewildered, but he got a free cap.



• Chas pretended to be Al Gore and made a joke about the desert and Phillip Ruddock being dry.



• Chas and Dom pretending to be Japanese scientists discussing the issue of whaling, and finished with a joke about that they were going to stop "studying" whales and start "studying" Pandas



• Dominic did a song about how hairy he is (and he wasn’t wearing a shirt, worse than Chas). =AtlanteanTiger told me I looked pretty stunned, but he really look unnaturally hairy.



• Andrew and Chas competing with each other to make the best segues using segue topics given by the audience (and wore Anna Coren wigs). Topics included Gunns, dog's bums, Cadburys shutting down its tours etc.



• the Chaser Quiz where Julian accidentally asked "Who is the head of gays" (rather than "who is the head of Gunns?" (answer: John Gay))



• there were baby photos of each of the chaser team (really cute and funny)



• a song about "tree man"



• advertising Craig’s bum on TV and social networking sites, and we actually got to see his bum >_<



• a song about Frank Locke (The PM for 8 days) and mentioned Perussian rugs



• a song about inbreed country people and how they sleep with cousins, horses etc.



• a song about us being the worst audience ever



• a random joke about Oose (a random Tasmanian town), which no-one got



• a sketch with Chas, Andrew, Julian and Craig dressed up like Osamas, but all called Mohammad



• Julian talking about how some people may think that Powerpoints are dodgy and then showed how it could be useful: eulogies, breaking up, the good points about Powerpoints



• a sketch with Andrew dressed as the Surprise Salesman and Julian as the Citizens Fine Giving Officer, a reference to ABC copyrights



• Craig and Andrew dressed up Indian mystics and looking into a Crystal ball (a take on the 2020 summit) and talking about future issues



• Julian and the woman called Lara he meet while giving complaints to Vodafone (which is actually a computer), and included a song using the various comments that the "woman" made, i.e. Julian: "I want to make love to you!", Lara (computer): "Just insert a keycard"



• Chas dressed up a Hip Hop guy and had a Satnav to direct him as to how he could interact with the audience and then a song about Politics



• answering frequently asked questions about chasers like: "where to draw the line", "what’s with Andrew’s hair"



• The last thing was that we had to "sing" the national anthem, with along the lines of "da da da da da girt by sea"

The only disappointment, but a major one at that, was that we actually did not get to meet the Chasers. We waited around for half hour, but the guy at the door said that they would be coming out until 11.30. At this, most people left and so did we, as we actually skipped out on dinner to get to the show on time and needed to eat. I had stayed up until 2.30 in the morning to make APEC passes, and not getting them signed was really disappointing. But apart from that, the show was great!
